6 Years of GOOD: The Neighbourgood Journey So Far
Six years ago, Neighbourgood began with a simple idea: to bring GOOD to neighbourhoods by reimagining the way people live, work and connect.
Looking back, it's easy to measure six years in numbers. The spaces we've opened. The people who've joined the team. The cities we've become part of. But those milestones only tell part of the story.
What we're most proud of isn't just what we've built. It's what GOOD has come to mean.
Six years in, we're taking a moment to celebrate where we've come from, reflect on the year that's been, and look ahead to everything still to come.
What does GOOD look like after six years?
It looks like 286 team members showing up every day.
It looks like 22+ properties with 1000+ rooms across three cities.
It looks like someone arriving in Cape Town for the first time and leaving with new friends.
It looks like a freelancer finding their favourite desk.
It looks like a team that makes you feel instantly at home.
It looks like a neighbourhood café becoming someone's morning routine.
It looks like restoring old buildings instead of replacing them.
It looks like neighbours becoming friends.
It looks like communities that continue to grow, one stay, one coffee and one conversation at a time.
It looks like creating spaces where people feel they belong.
Those moments may never make headlines, but they're the reason Neighbourgood exists. They're a reminder that what we're building has never just been about places. It's about creating spaces where people feel welcome, connected and at home, wherever they are.
The Next Chapter
Every year at Neighbourgood has brought its own focus. Some years have been about dreaming big. Others have been about growth, learning or finding our footing.
This past year has felt like a year of bringing it all together.
Our team has grown from 172 to 286, and we’ve welcomed new spaces such as Fountains Hotel by Neighbourgood and Disandt House by Neighbourgood, each adding its own character to the Neighbourgood story. We also launched a new booking experience on our website, making it possible to search and book across all Neighbourgood properties in one place for the first time.
Looking ahead, there is plenty to be excited about. With the launch of our new workspace at Lourensford, the opening of The Acre later this year, and our sights set on bringing Neighbourgood to even more cities, the next chapter is already taking shape.
Wherever it takes us, one thing will remain the same: our commitment to leaving people and places a little better than we found them.
To everyone who has stayed with us, worked from a workspace, visited one of our cafés, partnered with us, joined a community event, or simply followed the journey over the past six years, thank you.
You've helped shape Neighbourgood into what it is today, and we're incredibly grateful to have you as part of the story.
Here's to six years of GOOD.
And here's to everything still to come.
